MONTE - VERSIÓN EXTENDIDA (EXTRACT)
SHOWCASE FORO
Laboratorio Escénico | Galicia
Duration: 10’
Directed and choreographed by: Maura Morales (adapted by Alba Fernández and Ana Beatriz Pérez)
Performed by: Ana Beatriz Pérez, Alba Fernández and Alicia López
Synopsis
MONTE – Extended Version is a dance piece accompanied by live music, inspired by stories of women and borders, with the body as their sole companion. Women who leave familiar lands behind and learn to inhabit new ones, transforming themselves in the transition between cultures. The mountain becomes a symbolic space where memory, spirituality and tradition intertwine, revealing a territory shared between the visible and the hidden. Through movement, the body functions as a living archive of a hybrid identity that is constantly reinventing itself. ABANEA presents an excerpt from this production, performed by the piece’s three dancers.
Company profile
Laboratorio Escénico is a Galician performing arts company founded in 2019 under the direction of Alba Fernández, Alicia López and Carmen Cotelo. Their work is characterised by the creation of productions that combine dance, theatre and music to address social issues through a contemporary and multidisciplinary language. It currently has seven productions on tour and is also actively involved in training, creation and research through Laboratorio Escénico Coop, the company’s headquarters in A Coruña. For MONTE – Extended Version, they have enlisted the artistic direction and choreography of Maura Morales, a Cuban choreographer based in Germany, who brings an international perspective and in-depth research into the body and movement.

Synopsis
Mais is a piece of dance, acrobatics and clowning for a single performer. Amidst desires, expectations and projections, the protagonist moves between reality and fantasy in search of a different version of himself.
Company profile
SÖA is a Galician performing arts project created by Martín Blanco, Marta Velázquez and Carlota Rosón Rojo, which combines music, dance and theatre in a language all of its own. Synopsis
Solastalgia is a contemporary dance duet that invites reflection on adaptation, memory and identity in the context of environmental crisis. DANZALISMOS
SHOWCASE FORO
VACAburra | Galicia
Duration: 15’
Created, directed and performed by: VACAburra (Andrea Quintana and Gena Baamonde)
Synopsis
DANZALISMOS is a performative stage lecture in which Andrea Quintana and Gena Baamonde share the creative world of VACAburra through humour, action and the moving body. Through a hybrid approach combining spoken word, performance and contemporary dance, the piece explores the company’s main areas of research: diversity, dissidence, the rediscovery of forgotten women’s genealogies, and the expressive possibilities of the body as a political and poetic space. An invitation to engage with their imagination through an accessible, playful and deeply contemporary format.
Company profile
VACAburra is a contemporary creative platform founded in Galicia in 2019 by Andrea Quintana and Gena Baamonde. Their work is characterised by the blending of performing arts languages, feminism, sexual and gender diversity, humour and theoretical-practical research, positioning the body as the primary driving force behind creation. Throughout their career, they have developed pieces such as O raro é que bailar sexo raro, Metodoloxías Carroñeras para Corpos Invertidos, Familia Nijinska and Festina Lente – works that challenge hegemonic narratives and explore the intersections between dance, critical thinking and contemporary creation, transforming movement and vandalism into methodological tools for imagining alternative ways of being in the world.
